Eligibility Guidelines:

  • Property is maintained by a property management company who carries their own commercial general liability  & professional liability insurance
  • Dwelling is a single family home in Ontario
  • Property is checked inside and outside every 6 months
  • Property owners intend on moving back into the home when they are finished their work posting
  • Renters need to have a tenant policy in place
  • Vacant dwellings up for rent qualify with conditions

Q - What if the home is not rented right away?

A -

No problem- we can insure the home while vacant upon inception date of the policy if you are actively looking for suitable tenants to rent the dwelling

Q - How quickly can you bind coverage?

A -

As the administrators of the program, we have the authority to bind coverage for property owners immediately.

Q - Do you need an originally signed application?

A -

The days of printing and faxing documents are long gone. We simplify the process by emailing the application to your client (the property owner) to sign electronically.   Once signed- the application returns directly to me to request binding immediately.

Q - Do you insure older dwellings?

A -

Absolutely. We just ask for the year the electrical, plumbing, roof, heating system and hot water tank were last updated in the home.

Q - How often does the property manager need to inspect the home?

A -

We ask that you check the inside and outside of the home every 6 months.

Q - Does any property owner qualify for this program?

A -

Only dwelling owners temporarily renting their home while working abroad with the intention of returning to their dwelling qualify for the program.  Their home must be managed by a reputable property management company with a commercial insurance policy in place that includes Commercial General Liability and Professional Liability.

Q - Do the renters need to have insurance?

A -

Yes, the renters will need insurance to cover their own personal property and personal liability.  The liability section of the policy will provide coverage for damage to the premises or claims made by a third party for bodily injury or property damage.  The renter’s policy will provide a layer of liability protection for the property owner.

Q - What is the method of payment for the policy?

A -

We accept credit card payment in full at the time we bind coverage.  A receipt is included in the new policy package for the homeowners accounting records.

Q - Can the homeowner appoint the property manager to deal directly with our office?

A -

Absolutely, we just ask the homeowner to send us an email giving us permission to work with the property manager.

Q - How can the homeowner manage their policy remotely?

A -
